Winners of the Strategic Comms Awards announced

Dr. Martens and its agency, three thirty studio, emerged as the big winner of the Strategic Comms Awards, held on 17 November in the Art Deco splendour of Porchester Hall.

The iconic clothing and footwear brand picked up trophies for the Best FTSE 250 annual report, entitled True brand custodians, and also the Grand Prix for a publication that the judges described as ‘modern, fresh and creative’, which brought to life Dr. Marten’s purpose of ’empowering rebellious self-expression’ in a ‘page-turning’ way.

Agency Luminous added to its trophy cabinet with wins for Aston Martin Lagonda’s sustainability report, the Most Meaningful Use of Materiality with client Severn Trent and the Best Integration of ESG into an annual report for client Britvic. Jones & Palmer collected two trophies: Best FTSE 100 annual report for Changing the way the world shops, for good for client Ocado and Best online report for United Utilities.

Elsewhere, financial services giants Legal & General and Lloyds Banking Group appear to be leading the way in communicating non-financial information, with each winning a trophy and highly commended certificates. Legal & General picked up a trophy for Most Effective Alignment with TCFD, with its agency Superunion, while Lloyds Banking Group was recognised for Best use of purpose as a business driver, alongside agency Emperor.

Wardour and Ensemble also received recognition for their work, respectively picking up trophies for the Best small cap annual report (client Renewi) and Best unlisted organisation annual report (EY UK).

Headland Consultancy received the Best Strategic Comms Agency trophy, seeing off fierce competition from FGS and Tilton Consultancy.
