Headland Consulting and Brunswick Group are the first recipients of the CorpComms Awards Clients’ Choice trophies.

The trophies, which were presented by comedian Tom Allen in the Art Deco splendour of London’s Troxy, were awarded following a major research initiative by consultants Message House.

The research, which involved in-house communications teams, sought to find out what attributes clients rate in their agencies. It will be repeated next year and, in time, it is hoped that the findings will help to create an agency ranking which is based on more than just annual revenues.

Headland Consultancy won Best Corporate PR Agency - Clients’ Choice, beating off competition from Brunswick Group, Teneo, Edelman and FTI Consulting. It also won the Best Crisis Management trophy for its work during the administration of Toys ‘R’ Us. 

Headland was described as ‘ambitious, creative and collaborative’, with respondents claiming its biggest attribute is the strength and depth of its team.
Teneo was praised for its understanding of what drives reputation and ability to look at the bigger picture. Edelman was commended for its campaigns, global network and its consideration of all aspects of reputation. Brunswick Group was viewed as intelligent, strategic with savvy execution when it came to corporate PR, with an enviable journalist contacts book. FTI Consulting was described as an excellent partner and counsel on all PR matters, providing creative and strategic advice.

Brunswick Group was the first recipient of the Best Financial PR Agency - Clients’ Choice, beating off competition from Headland Consulting, FTI Consulting and Finsbury. Brunswick was recognised for its ‘depth of experience’, ‘depth of expertise’ and ‘depth of talent’. As one respondent put it: ‘They are the powerhouse of the industry.’

Finsbury stood out for its weight with the media, creativity and proactivity; the agency that journalists recommend. Headland was described by phrases such ad ‘new ideas’, ‘up-to-date’, ‘a challenger to the established players’ and also drew praise for its ability to complement the in-house team.

FTI Consulting is seen to marry sound advice and an ability to roll up its sleeves when necessary, keeping clients on the straight and narrow.
