Thomson and First Choice launch new brand to encourage sustainable holidays

Leading UK tour operators Thomson and First Choice have launched Holidays Forever to encourage customers to support sustainable tourism and raise awareness of green practices among employees.
Launched during the Travel Foundation's Make Holidays Greener Week, Holidays Forever encompasses 20 sustainable commitments made by Thomson and First Choice. These include cutting carbon emissions from TUI Travel airlines by six per cent in the next four years and recycling 30 per cent of the cans handed out onboard flights in the next year, equating to 13 tonnes of aluminium.
The new brand was created after customer research revealed 96 per cent of holidaymakers polled care about protecting the local environment and wildlife of places they visit. More than four fifths said they appreciate advice on ways to be more environmentally and socially responsible while on holiday. Holidays Forever microsites will be launched for both the Thomson and First Choice brands to educate customers on sustainable tourism issues and offer tips for planning a greener holiday.
