The Lions may be abandoning South Africa with their tails firmly between their legs but it is not all bad news on the football front. In honour of the much-disputed disallowal of Frank Lampard's goal during Sunday's fateful game against Germany, Asda is offering Uruguayan linesman Mauricio Espinosa and all of his compatriots free eye tests at the retailer's optical outlets.
Nik Langrish-Dixon, optical buying manager for Asda, said: 'Let's face it - it could have been a very different game had the disallowed goal been counted. After the linesman's slip-up our expert opticians are concerned about the state of his Urug-eyes, so we're offering anyone with a Uruguay passport a free eye test.'
The retailer is also offering free blood tests to anyone who felt the pressure during the game.
