Three out of ten workers check porn on their mobile phones during the day while 55 per cent update their social networking pages, according to research by Damovo UK.
The survey of more than 200 IT directors at organisations with more than 1,000 employees found that eight per cent of workers check out gaming sites on their mobile phones while seven per cent watch television.
The threat to working hours is likely to grow as more employees use mobile technology to work remotely and across corporate networks, with 95 per cent of respondents expecting a more mobile workforce within ten years.
It will also become increasingly hard to police as many workers now use just one mobile device for both business and personal use. Almost two thirds (63 per cent) of IT directors admitted finding enforcing mobile usage policies a headache, while 88 per cent would like better visibility of their employees' mobile usage in order to better manage costs and security.
Indeed, security is a major issue for companies as important data can be compromised if devices are lost or stolen.
