PR firms Fishburn Hedges, Lansons Communications and Ketchum Pleon and digital agency BigMouthMedia all feature in the top 50 workplaces in Britain, according to a new publication by employment consultants Great Place to Work.
The study took into account a variety of factors including quality of training and development, benefits packages, competition for jobs at the company, and executive emphasis on social responsibility, employee diversity, gender equality and work-life balance.
Ketchum Pleon received special mention for corporate responsibility excellence, linking its environmental and social policy to staff remuneration packages. Lansons Communications won particular favour for caring for employee health and wellbeing, offering an extensive benefits package and a champion of the cause in the boardroom. Whilst Fishburn Hedges was deemed the best workplace for women on the strength of feedback from female employees.
Tony Langham, chief executive of Langham Communications, volunteered the secret of their success. 'We have great people, with pride in the business, who care about each others' wellbeing and about doing fantastic work. We communicate honestly about where the company's going, and strive to be a good citizen in our communities. Keeping a fresh outlook is important.'
Fiona Thorn, managing director of Fishburn Hedges, said of creating a positive working environment: 'We know that treats, such as chocolate fountains, help create a good office atmosphere. But a great workplace, as opposed to just a fun one, inspires and challenges in equal measure. It provides employees with the freedom and support to give their best while continually developing their skills and experience.'
