Trace your Coke

Drinks company Coca-Cola GB has created an interactive application enabling consumers to trace the origin of their soft drink back to one of six UK production sites.

The aim of the website is to highlight the company's UK manufacturing heritage, and promote recycling by tracking the carbon footprint of individual Coke products. The site looks to involve consumers in their soft drinks' journey from syrup to store by offering an introduction to each of the UK factories and interesting facts about the manufacture and distribution of Coke cans and bottles across the country.

The application is part of an ongoing sustainability drive by the beverage company. Earlier this year, Coke also rolled out 260 recycling bins across London to promote its 2012 Olympic partnership, in conjunction with Westminster City Council.

Liz Lowe, citizenship manager at Coca-Cola GB, said: 'Trace Your Coke provides a fun, interactive way for our consumers to find out information that matters to them whilst reinforcing the importance of recycling. We know that without sustainable, healthy communities we won't have a sustainable business. How we can communicate these messages, while inspiring and motivating our consumers to take action, is key to achieving our aims.'
