Boots gives Marks & Spencer the boot to become most reputable UK company

UK pharmacy Boots has ranked first in an online survey of corporate reputation, usurping former favourite Marks & Spencer.
The newcomer to the Reputation Institute's UK Pulse Report was rated the most trusted and admired UK company in a survey of over 5,000 online consumers. Retailers are particularly making a place for themselves in the nation's affections, boasting 11 of the top 20 most reputable companies. But there has been some shuffling in position amongst the retail giants.
John Lewis Partnership, famed for making all its 700,000 employees partners and shareholders in the firm, has outstripped both Marks & Spencer and Debenhams for consumer reputation. Budget supermarket Morrison's, which started life as a Bradford egg and butter market stall, has also chased ahead of the old reliables Sainsbury and Tesco.
Meanwhile, recent high profile industrial disputes and technical hitches have caused big names British Airways, Eurostar and Royal Mail to slip in the rankings.
