Heathrow launches first airport app

BAA Heathrow is introducing an application to guide passengers through every stage of their journey, from packing their suitcase to checking the weather at their destination.
The service could not be more timely, with recent disruptions to airport services - last month's BA strikes and April showers of volcanic ash - proving how much passengers are prey to last-minute changes of plan and in need of up-to-the-minute flight information.
The company is looking to whet passengers' appetites with a free taster, which will help users find and book transportation to and from the airport, and scrutinise check-in and security procedures and airport news. For when you get to the airport, the app provides detailed terminal maps, complete with shop plans and twitter updates on special offers available inside. It even offers tips on how to pack for your trip.
The full version will provide detailed flight information, allowing travellers to track their flight progess and plan forthcoming trips with access to six months of flight schedules across all airlines.
