Microblogging tool, Twitter, has something to tweet about having just achieved a membership of over 105 million registered users. And it continues to grow - attracting over 300,000 new users per day.
The figures were announced by the social network's co-owner, Biz Stone, at Twitter developer conference, Chirp. Stone also revealed recent search query figures of 600 million per day. These illustrate the potential platform for marketers taking advantage of the microblog's new 'Promoted Tweets' facility unveiled on Tuesday.
However, Twitter remains very much the underdog in the titanic battle with Facebook which recently passed a 400 million user milestone. Technology reviewer TechRadar revealed earlier this year that user figures for the microblog had yet to catch up with the number of Facebook members playing the game Farmville.
