Vodafone has beaten off competition from Nokia and AT&T to top the list of the top 20 greenest technology companies. The phone operator was commended for 'all-round sustainability leadership' and for implementing wide-ranging 'governance mechanisms for sustainability issues'.
Vodafone was awarded a 60 per cent score in the Tomorrow's Value Rating (ICT) list. Nokia was a close second with 55 per cent, followed by HP which received 52 per cent. According to Thomas Krick, senior consultant at Two Tomorrows Group, which compiled the list, Vodafone is best positioned to turn sustainability challenges into business opportunities.
Panasonic, in eighth place, was singled out for its reduction in carbon emissions.
