Constituents can follow local MP via free iPhone app

Labour MP Derek Wyatt is the first MP to launch an iPhone app, with the aim of being more accountable to his constituents.
The free MyMP app keeps users up to date with the location and current activities of the MP for Sittingbourne and Sheppey in Kent, and even allows them to contact him directly. 'Now people can alert me in real time to any issues that I need to address,' he said.
Wyatt hopes the app will encourage a new generation of voters to get involved in politics and says he is looking forward to hearing from his constituents. The new tool is not even designed as a vote-winning move as Wyatt has announced plans to step down at the next election
The MyMP app has already been downloaded 4,000 times in beta format. Its developer, Public Zone, hopes to extend its service to other MPs in the near future.
