Coca-Cola goes green

Coca-Cola is aiming for a zero waste, carbon neutral Olympics sponsorship when the Vancouver winter games kick off this week.

The drinks company will serve drink bottles made from 30 per cent plant-based materials, delivered by hybrid cars and electric carts, to cafes decked out in furniture that is made from pine-beetle-savaged wood.

Staff will wear uniforms made from recycled bottles, which will also provide the material for welcome bags, while all air travel will be compensated for by purchasing carbon offsets.
