White House updates its digital strategy

The White House has announced the launch of a free WhiteHouse.gov app which allows iPhone users to keep up to date with the administration's every move.
The app combines a variety of media tools that are already available online, such as the White House blog, videos and photos, providing access to press briefings, speeches, discussions and the president's weekly address. There is also a 'live' section which will stream selected events as they happen.
Its release coincides with Obama's State of the Union Address on 27 January. It is set to be watched by millions on TV and online, with viewers now able to tune in live on their iPhones as well.
The application's launch is yet another example of White House efforts to connect with the electorate through digital media, and reflects what it highlights as 'Obama's commitment to an open and transparent government'. It will shortly be launching mobile.WhiteHouse.gov, a mobile-ready version of the website for other internet-enabled phones and devices.
