Hallmark Cards is inviting would-be romantic poets to tweet their musings in a nationwide creative writing competition.
The best 140 character entries will be judged by an online public vote and by a panel of experts, including poet and published author Christine Miller. The winning Twittermantic (a romantic tweeter) will receive a luxury weekend break for two. It will also feature on a Hallmark Valentine's Day card for 2011.
Jon Taylor, head of online at Hallmark Cards, said: 'It's really simple to enter; all people need to do is follow 'Hallmark Cards' on Twitter, and then compose a verse in 140 characters or less, making sure that they include Hallmark in their tweet entry. We want to see how creative the great British public can be. We don't mind if people want to use text speak or clever abbreviations to keep it within the word limit. What's important is that it's original.'
Hallmark, the world's largest greeting card company, will also publish regular hints and tips on our Twitter page as well as attempts from professional writers.
