Drivers will soon be able to tweet on the move after Ford Motor Company announced plans to incorporate a Twitter application into its next generation Sync in-car communication system.
The system will be compatible with smartphone application for Twitter OpenBeak, formerly known as Twitterberry, which will read tweets as they arrive. The display will indicate the sender and the time elapsed since the tweet was written.
It is not yet possible to tweet a response, although Ford is developing the capability to retweet a post and for the driver to be notified when a tweet arrives.
Since Sync was unveiled three years ago, Ford has sold more than one million cars with the system. It allows drivers to operate Bluetooth-enabled smartphones and music systems with voice commands.
Drivers can also use a laptop or home computer to send a route to their car using Sync, which is then downloaded through a smartphone connection.
