Resort's new logo has upset the locals

A north Devon resort, with high levels of teenage pregnancies, has upset residents with a new logo that many have likened to a sperm.
The 'idiosyncratic' swirl incorporated in the £5,000 logo for Ilfracombe is meant to get people to 'take another look and be surprised' at the resort.
The council said the logo is aimed at 'encapsulating Ilfracombe's fascinating and appealing attributes into one logo, strapline and brand that reflects and reinforces the distinctive essence' of the town.
But traders in the resort - which has Britain's second highest rate of teenage pregnancies - believes it encapsulates the wrong image. 'We have this problem and now we crown the town's name with a wriggling sperm,' said one. 'How on earth did they miss the sperm?' asked a blogger on the town website. 'On the plus side, they could always market themselves as England's most fertile town.'
