Metrotextuality lives. XXX

More than one in five men regularly conclude their texts with a kiss (X) even when communicating with male friends, according to new research by T-Mobile.

The phenomenon has been dubbed 'metrotextuality' and is said to be most widespread among 18 to 24 year old males, with three quarters regularly signing off with a kiss.

More than half (52 per cent) state that a lower-case 'x' is the preferred format, while 17 per cent use a bolder upper-case 'X' and one in three sign off with multiple lower case xxxx.
