Japanese airline requires passengers to pee before boarding

A Japanese airline has started to ask passengers to relieve themselves before boarding the aircraft in a bid to reduce carbon emissions.
The move comes just months after Ryanair threatened to charge passengers for using its on-board toilets.
All Nippon Airways (ANA) claims empty bladders will lower the weight of passengers and, as a result, the airplane's load, thus reducing its use of fuel.
It hopes that the weight saved will lead to a five tonne reduction in carbon emissions over 30 days.
Since October 1, airline staff at departure gates have asked passengers to use the facilities on the ground before boarding the plane. The new policy is a month-long experiment, affecting 42 flights.
