High street electronics chains Currys and PC World have launched an investigation into abusive and offensive comments posted by staff on the social networking site Facebook.
Customers are described as 'retards' and 'twats' in discussion forums linked to Facebook group DSGi Employees, and consideration is also given to whether staff should be 'legally allowed to cattle prod' customers.
DSGi is the parent company for PC World and Currys, but the group stresses that 'this is an UNOFFICIAL Dixons Stores Group plc, Discussion forum/Community, any views/opinions on this page by either the group creator or it's [sic] members are those of the individuals only and not of DSGi plc or any of its affiliates'.
The discussions cover all aspect of DSGi's business, but include 'chatting up customers', 'arsehole customers', 'some customers are really really stupid' and 'The sale of goods act (as amended by customers)'.
The comments were uncovered by Bitterwallet, the consumer action blog. They include a response to a customer asking for a discount: 'short answer: No. Long answer: No and go f*** yourself, you hardfisted, small walleted, annoying, ignorant tightfisted f***tard'.
A statement from DSGi said: 'We have clear guidelines for staff and will investigate any alleged abuse of customers. Delivering excellent customer service is at the forefront of everything we do, and so we are very disappointed that a small number of our colleagues have made these comments on a social networking site.'
