Twelve in-house communications teams have joined the Public Relations Consultants Association as its first associate members following the recent decision to open up membership to organisations.
The inaugural list includes local authorities Derbyshire County Council, London Borough of Hillingdon, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council and Westminster City Council; Nationwide Building Society, The AA, eBay, King's College London, Procter & Gamble and The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
The new associate members are committed to transparency and raising the standards in public relations and communications.
Edmund King, president of the AA, said: 'Membership of the PRCA has long provided member agencies with a badge of excellence giving confidence to their clients. The AA in-house team operates in some ways like an agency with in-house clients.'
