McDonald’s UK and Sainsbury’s head up an impressive roll call of leading companies shortlisted for the CorpComms Awards 2014 with four nominations apiece, while HSBC picks up three nods for its internal communications strategy HSBC NOW.
The shortlist stretches across major financial services groups such as Barclays, Nationwide and Santander, utility companies such as Thames Water and Southern Water, publishers Dow Jones and News UK, travel companies TUI and Thomas Cook and high street giants Home Retail Group, Morrisons and Tesco. Other notable nominees include Rentokil Initial, law firm Schillings, Bayer Animal Health, East Coast Railways, Inmarsat and InterContinental Hotels Group.
The London Fire Brigade, The Stroke Association, Moat, The Crown Estate and Northamptonshire County Council represent just a handful of not-for-profit and public sector organisations that are shortlisted this year.
Hope&Glory and Blue Rubicon head the league table for agencies, with eight and seven nominations respectively. Blue Rubicon holds the baton as the most rewarded agency by CorpComms Awards, with 18 nominations and eight trophies since the scheme launched nine years ago.
Other agencies such as MerchantCantos and Luminous, with four nominations apiece, also feature, alongside Weber Shandwick (three) while Addison Group, Teamspirit Public Relations, Wardour, Think, TheAppBuilder, SAS, Lansons, drp, Radley Yeldar and Ogilvy PR each pick up two.
Helen Dunne, editor and publisher of CorpComms Magazine, said: ‘This year we received a record number of entries, but it is the depth and breadth of the organisations that enter that continues to astound us. Many companies tell us that this is the scheme they really want to win, and it was exciting to see many of last year’s shortlisted entrants return in 2014 with even more campaigns for us to consider.
‘After spending time doing their advance preparation, our judges spent a rigorous day discussing and debating the entries and I truly believe that we have the strongest shortlist of any awards scheme in this industry.’
The ninth annual CorpComms Awards will be presented on 26 November at a Gala Dinner. The event, which last year was attended by more than 600 people, is held in the Art Deco splendour of The Troxy on the outskirts of the City.
