Brunswick was the top PR adviser involved in merger and acquisitions activity last year working on 167 deals worth in excess of £270 billion, according to new research by mergermarket.
The financial PR agency worked on two of the year's top ten blockbuster deals, advising South African brewery InBev on its £39 billion acquisition of Anheuser-Busch and Bank of America on its surprise £29 billion purchase of rival Merrill Lynch.
Brunswick, which counts more than one fifth of FTSE 100 companies among its clients, was also the top adviser on UK M&A last year, working on 76 deals valued at about £57 billion. It replaced Finsbury Group, which slipped to third place in the UK league table, advising on 59 transactions valued at more than £42 billion.
FD, formerly known as Financial Dynamics, came in at second place in the global advice league table, assisting on 218 deals valued at £146 billion. New York-based Kekst and Company, which was acquired by Publicis last year, took third place, advising on 130 transactions worth more than £145 billion.
However, FD dominates the mid-market rankings, taking top spots by both value and volume globally and in Europe, advising on 116 transactions worth £5.1 billion.
