Almost half of recruiters use LinkedIn exclusively, shying away from Facebook and Twitter for recruiting purposes, according to a recent report by social recruiting firm Bullhorn Reach.
One suggestion for this is that LinkedIn drives more traffic to job adverts than Twitter and Facebook, the corporate networking site generates three times the amount of advert views of Twitter and six times the amount of an advert on Facebook.
Recruiters that post jobs on LinkedIn receive almost nine times more applications that Facebook, and three times more than Twitter.
The report found that Twitter followers are almost three times more likely to apply for a job posting than a LinkedIn connection, and eight times more likely than a Facebook friend.
The typical recruiter was found to have upwards of 600 LinkedIn connections and 245 Facebook friends, but less than 40 Twitter followers.
The report noted a difference between agency and corporate recruiters, in that the agencies tend to have slightly more LinkedIn connections, while the corporate recruiters tend to have more on Twitter and Facebook.
Three quarters of recruiters have 100 or fewer Twitter followers, while more than a quarter have over 1,000 LinkedIn connections. Just over a fifth have 50 or fewer Facebook friends.
