British Airways (BA) cabin crew will serve three Olympic-sized swimming pools worth of tea to customers this year, the airline has revealed as it raises the profile of its London 2012 sponsorship campaign.
The airline will be sharing that and other Olympic-related aviation trivia as part of an intergrated social media and advertising campaign, including the statistic that engineers will fit enough cable on board the airline's planes in 2012 to lap an Olympic track 80 times.
Customers may also be intrigued to hear that the airline will welcome on board enough customers to fill 400 London Olympic Stadiums in 2012.
As part of the campaign, BA will air a 60-second television advertisements from 11am, 9 February, which will first be previewed on Facebook and Google+. The TV advert and 'making of' film can be viewed on
British Airways' Facebook page.
The advert depicts the build-up to the Games through the eyes of a four-year-old-girl whose British suitcase is racing against luggage from other nations, competing to get to the arrival hall first.
The campaign will also include outdoor, print and online advertisements.
BA is one of seven tier-one partners signed up for the Olympics by the London 2012 organising committee Locog, with the others being adidas, BMW, BP, BT, EDF and Lloyds TSB.
