A GPS-based augmented reality app that allows users to view past Olympic cities around them, has been launched by ARworks.
Users can see the exact venues of the London 2012 Olympic Games through their smartphone camera, via the Augmented Reality Olympic Navigator app.
Users can simply hold up their smartphones to see the dates of the past 26 Games, which include Athens, Stockholm and Sydney. Users will also be able to see the distance and direction of the cities from where they are at the time.
The cities will appear as floating icons, and by clicking one, users will be able to read the number of sports and participants for that particular Olympic Games. For additional information, the app provides a link to the Wikipedia page of the chosen Games.
Starting in May, users will also be able to follow the journey of the Olympic Flame across the UK.
