Asks job applicants to submit online connections instead of CVs

A New York-based venture-capital firm that invests heavily in social media is practicing what it preaches by asking applicants to submit their online connections rather than a CV.
Union Square Ventures has asked job applicants to provide links that will demonstrate their 'web presence' on social media platforms.
The organisation asked its applicants to send links to sites which include their Twitter or Facebook accounts, and any blogs that they might write. Applicants were also required to submit a short video which demonstrated their interest in the position.
The firm which has invested in companies that include Twitter and Foursquare, believes that this modern vetting process finds a better quality of candidate.
Christina Cacioppo, an associate at Union Square Ventures, criticised traditional CVs for not providing enough depth about the candidate. She was hired at Union Square Ventures on the strengths of her personal blog, Twitter account, LinkedIn profile and presence on social bookmarking service Delicious and travel plan site Dopplr.
