Cadbury gives fans giant 'thumbs up'

To celebrate achieving one million Facebook fans, Cadbury, the 'Official Treat Provider to the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games', has created a giant chocolate 'thumbs up' in the style of the Facebook 'Like' button, as its way of saying thank you.

The chocolate masterpiece took two days to construct and involves a massive three tonnes of chocolate which roughly weighs the same as 300 large Christmas turkeys or two Honda Accords.

Several lucky fans were able to help the team of 24 by making 98 cups of tea and providing a morale-boosting high-five when needed. One lucky fan got the privilege of placing the final square of chocolate on top to complete the masterpiece.

Cadbury has been increasingly using social media, and recently launched its new Bubbly chocolate bar, with an augmented reality enabled wrapper, on Google+ before announcing it on other social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter.

The bar's wrapper is Blippar (an augmented reality app provider) enabled, which allows consumers to access additional content via the app. This is not the first time that Cadbury has partnered with Blippar. It launched the world's first augmented reality game, Cadbury Spots v Stripes, which could be played by using Blippar's image recognition technology on its wrappers.
