Volkswagen has been caught out deleting a series of unfavourable Facebook wall posts received after the car manufacturer asked fans about their New Year's resolutions and what they would like to achieve in 2012.
Volkswagen received more than 1,000 critical posts on its Facebook page, relating to its environmental credentials, before deleting the negative comments.
Campaigners at Greenpeace made a series of 'screen grabs' of Volkswagen's page to document the action, and put them together to make a short film which they then posted on its blog.
Volkswagen failed to respond to any of the comments, prompting one Facebook user to write: 'VW - r u still there?'
One Facebook user wrote: 'Volkswagen - deleting posts because you don't like what we're saying is not cool. We just want to know why you're lobbying against Europe's climate laws.'
Greenpeace has previously criticised the car company for its environmental track record, claiming that it is lobbying against possible laws that may come into play forcing our cars to use less oil and limiting emissions.
