Best-selling Greek chocolate brand 'Lacta' has launched an augmented reality smartphone app that allows users to send a secret message to a friend on a chocolate bar wrapper.
The app allows chocolate lovers to compose a message of their choice, before selecting which friend they want to send it to from their list of friends on their Facebook account.
Their friends, who then receive a Facebook notification, need to buy a bar of Lacta chocolate. Once they have downloaded the app, they can hold their smartphone camera up to the bar to reveal the secret message.
The app, which was created by OgilvyOne Worldwide in Athens, can be downloaded here.
The smartphone app is the latest in a stream of social media initiatives launched by the chocolate company, in partnership with OgilvyOne Worldwide.
Last year, to help promote its Facebook page, the company launched the Lacta Chocolate Facebook App where users could compare their loved ones with chocolate.
Users of the app were able to customise a Lacta chocolate wrapper with the name of their choosing, and compare it to a particular Lacta flavour. They could then post the picture on their loved one's Facebook wall. In just over a month the campaign generated more than 150,000 fans, with many using the personalised chocolate wrappers as their profile pictures.
The brand's Facebook page is now one of the most popular in Greece.
