The organisers of the London 2012 Olympic Games have released a set of social media guidelines intended for the 70,000 Games Maker volunteers.
The volunteers will not be allowed the privilege of posting any pictures or comments of VIPs from behind the scenes.
The document prohibits volunteers from commenting about their role and location, as well as any information relating to athletes and celebrities.
Volunteers are not permitted to share any information via audio, text or video channels.
The site warns volunteers not to disclose any breaking news about an athlete, and to avoid any detailed discussion about the Olympic Games on any online platform.
However, they have been given the thumbs up to retweet official London 2012 posts.
A spokesperson from LOCOG told the BBC: 'We understand that many of our Games Makers will want to use social media to share their exciting experiences at London 2012 with their friends and family... As is standard in most organisations, we have provided some practical guidelines to give basic advice on interacting in a social media environment with the aim of protecting the interests of our workforce and operation.'
The document is in the Games Makers' area of the LOCOG (London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games) website.
