Forgotten presents returned home

A bear named Frugal has been reunited with his owner after a trip through the postal system, thanks to staff at Premier Inn who have set up a special service to return Christmas presents left behind by guests.

The 'Gifts Reunited' service has been set in motion on Facebook for people who have forgotten their presents in any of Premier Inn's hotels; it started today and will run until 17 January.

Britain's biggest hotel chain wrote on its Facebook page: 'We had a selection of interesting gifts left behind in our hotels over the holidays and we want to try and reunite them with their rightful owners! If you have lost any Christmas presents, do get in touch with welisten@premierinn.com and title your email "lost property" and we will do our best to get them back to you!'

Premier Inn says it has a stash of presents left behind at its 600 plus budget hotels, including five One Direction dolls, a 'The Only Way is Essex' box set and a Cliff Richard 2012 calendar.

Premier Inn staff will also respond to queries via the 'Notes' section on their Facebook page.

Claire Haigh, spokeswoman for Premier Inn, said: 'We're always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that our guests are well cared for, and following on from the success of this service last year, we've decided to re-launch it and do our upmost to get lost presents back their rightful owners.'

Staff at Premier Inn in Thetford in Norfolk certainly went the extra mile for Alison Snelling, Frugal's owner. They sent a letter accompanying the bear, which said: 'I feel a bit guilty that this poor bear has travelled to you in a plastic bag! I hope it is not too traumatised from the travel, and that it has reached you in a good condition.'
