Halifax has launched its first cross-platform mobile banking app, which topped the free Finance apps chart on the iTunes App Store within 72 hours of release.
The app allows Internet banking customers to make on-the-go transactions, and also locate the nearest Halifax or LINK Automated Teller Machine (ATM).
Users will be able to view account details and balances, and transaction history on their personal savings and credit card accounts. The app also allows users to make transfers between Halifax personal accounts, pay bills and locate the nearest branches.
David Nicholson, group director at Halifax Community Bank, said: 'The use of mobile apps to assist day-to-day activities - like banking - on the go is more popular than ever, especially apps that provide customers with everything they need in one place. The launch of the Halifax Mobile Banking app will ensure our customers can manage their money when they need to and allow them to control their money quickly and easily.'
Up to 18 per cent of European consumers use mobile banking, which has risen by five percentage points on last year's figures.
The Halifax Banking app is available on iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and will soon be available on Nokia smartphones.
