Marks & Spencer has pledged to install water-saving technology into 300 of its largest stores across Britain, over the next year as part of its 'Plan A' programme.
The 'Plan A' initiative which began in January 2007 is Marks & Spencer's campaign to become the world's most sustainable major retailer by 2015, by achieving 180 commitments.
The ambitious water-saving campaign aims to reduce water usage in its stores, offices and warehouses by a fifth by next year, and 25 per cent by 2015.
Marks & Spencer has says in its half yearly report that it has already achieved 105 of its commitments.
The retailer already claims it saved £70 million last year thanks to improvements in energy efficiency at more than 1,000 stores.
In a bid towards sustainability, the retailer spent £10 million last year on research and development into new products.
