The rising threat of a Eurozone collapse has fuelled a dramatic 730 per cent increase in UK broadsheet press coverage on the issue during the February to November period, according to data from Precise.
In February there were just 331 mentions of the Eurozone in British broadsheet newspapers. Since then it has grown to 2,746 mentions in the month of November, the highest for any month this year.
The figure for November also signals a 50 per cent increase in the volume of Eurozone mentions on the previous month.
The coverage of the Eurozone crisis eclipsed all other stories for the month of November including the death of former Welsh football player and manager Gary Speed, Virgin's purchase of Northern Rock, Remembrance Day, the public sector strikes and the Chancellor's autumn statement.
Public sector strikes commanded the second highest amount of November press coverage in broadsheets with 727 mentions.
