Lancashire County Council has turned to horror filmmaking in an attempt to promote the work it is doing in preparation for the winter period.
'Gritters: The Movie' has been produced in the style of a horror film trailer to communicate key messages about the gritting work the county council will be carrying out during adverse weather.
The 42 second trailer is set to eerie music and contains messages that appear to be written in blood: 'You may not see them, but they're they come out when you are sleeping...
'... Will you be ready?' the trailer asks before cutting to footage of the council's gritting trucks.
Promoted purely through the council's Twitter and Facebook pages, the film received nearly 400 views in a day and a half and reached more than 10,000 people though Twitter.
The council are calling it an innovative use of social media. It released the short film on Halloween and has already received more10,000 hits.
The film is now available on Lancashire County Council's YouTube channel.
