McDonald's is launching a new game on Facebook to lure meat fans into its outlets. The game is being launched as the fast-food chain in North America re-introduces its 500 calorie boneless pork barbecue sandwich, which it calls the McRib.
The game features barbecue-loving unicorns, Viking accountants and many more weird and wonderful characters. Users are encouraged to make the most of the social side of the game and share their discoveries and scores with friends.
The digital game, The Quest for the Golden McRib, works with Google Maps to allow users to 'hunt' for one of ten virtual golden McRibs which are hidden in various McDonald's restaurants around the world.
The McRib which boasts, 'Even your dreams dream about this', is credited with boosting the fast-food chain's sales by 4.8 per cent last year.
Users can earn virtual badges which they can post to their profile page if they are inclined to brag.
