Virgin Atlantic has recruited a Californian TV presenter over Twitter to cover American Football as it comes to London this weekend.
The winner takes the helm of the airline's official Twitter account covering the 2011 NFL International Series game on Sunday when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Chicago Bears will meet.
Virgin Atlantic put out a plea on its Facebook page last month offering would-be tweeters to put themselves forward to cover the game. Fans were able to enter by tweeting @VirginAtlantic using the hashtag #RedHotReporter.
Competition winner Aubrey Aquino, an aspiring TV presenter from California, was flown to London to report on the game and is currently chronicling her trip via Twitter and Facebook.
Aquino was evidently pleased with her appointment, writing on her website: 'The game is going down Oct. 23 in London (yes, England) at Wembley Stadium when the BUCS take on da BEARS!!! Cheerio!!'
As she arrived at a practice session for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers she tweeted on her personal account: 'Just arrived at #Bucs practice... still getting used to all the 'English' accents! LOL.'
Those curious of Aquino's progress can follow her adventures by looking out for the #RedHotReporter hashtag. She last tweeted from Surrey County Cricket Club where she was watching the Chicago Bears practice ahead of Sunday's clash.
'The NFL International Series offers the perfect opportunity to align our brand with one of the most recognizable sporting entities in the world,' said Chris Rossi, senior vice president, North America at Virgin Atlantic.
'This is the third year that we have partnered with the NFL, allowing both brands to further expand their reach on both sides of the Atlantic. We look forward to this year's match-up and are excited to host our guests at the game, including our Red Hot Reporter.'
