Four out of ten drivers shopping for cars will use social media to research a vehicle before they will make a purchase, according to a recent survey.
And 40 per cent of Facebook users who saw a wall post about a particular car brand said that they went on to add that brand or model to their list of vehicle options. Similarly, 28 per cent who saw a post about a dealership would add it to their list.
The survey found that one quarter of buyers would share their experience relating to their vehicle purchase via social media. And approximately a third of respondents would do the same if they are particularly loyal to a specific dealership or brand.
Four out of ten of those loyal to a particular brand will recommend it via social networks, and almost half will do so if they are a fan of a particular dealership.
The research by Dealer.com, automobile resource site DriverSide and market research firm GfK involved 2,000 participants who had recently purchased a vehicle, or were planning to make a purchase within the next year.
