One Facebook fan can generate 20 new visits to a brand's website in just one year, according to a recent study by Experian Hitwise, an online competitive intelligence service.
Experian Hitwise and social media specialists Techlightenment have launched a new 'Facebook Fan Acquisition and Analysis service', which allows brands to gain thousands of Facebook fans and then examine their behaviour online. The result is an average of 62,000 extra visits to a brand's site from Facebook each month.
Facebook is the second most visited site in Britain, and is second when it comes to sending the most traffic to other websites, beaten only by Google in both cases. Brits spend more than 20 million hours on Facebook each day. There are currently more than 750 million active users worldwide.
