A new version of Facebook for orthodox Jews

A new version of Facebook that has the Rabbi's seal of approval has been launched in Israel by Jewish computer programmer Yaakov Swisa.
The strictly kosher FaceGlat site is a mixture of Facebook and 'glatt', a word associated with the highest level of kosher meat.
FaceGlat prevents males and females from being 'friends' while also blocking any indecent material from being seen or discussed on the site. This allows orthodox Jews to connect with friends without the risk of someone of the opposite sex seeing photos or comments about them.
Swisa has programmed the site to block any users who disobey the site's social code, and any inappropriate words or phrases are automatically blocked to help maintain a clean site.
Alternative Hebrew search engine Koogle launched in 2009 but after inappropriate religious content started to appear in the results, the site was shut down.
FaceGlat is currently available in Hebrew and English, and Swisa plans to add French and Russian versions of the site.
