Vodafone has warned an Indian-based customer that it may sue, after derogatory Facebook comments were posted on his Facebook page.
Dhaval Valia, a customer of Indian mobile phone provider Vodafone Essar, was issued with a notice of warning on 26 May, according to an unnamed spokesperson, after posting comments to his wall that criticised the mobile phone company's services in his local area.
The availability of mobile 3G is poor in the area of Mumbai where Valia resides, something which is at the heart of the disagreement.
Valia was advised to remove all comments which were considered offensive within a 48 hour period.
He was also accused of sending text messages to staff which have been said to have caused them 'mental trauma', and were deemed 'unnecessary, unneeded and unwarranted'.
Valia has retaliated, accusing Vodafone of twisting the facts and harassment, and has alleged that the phone company is not allowing him to air his views about their service. He has since approached India's advertising standards watchdog to log his complaint.
