Just over seven out of ten PR consultancies expect fee income to continue to grow in the third quarter while 26 per cent expect levels to remain stable, according to the latest Trends Barometer from ICCO.
Only 3.5 per cent of those surveyed, who comprise PR consultancy heads across 21 countries and national trade association bodies, expect a decline in fee income.
The quarterly barometer also found that 94 per cent of consultancies now offer social media services to their clients, although 11 per cent rely on external partners to do so.
Just under half of those surveyed integrate social media within traditional PR, across practice areas, while 31 per cent rely on a dedicated social media team within the consultancy.
The survey also found that 54 per cent of consultancy heads claim clients have mixed views as to which communications discipline 'owns' social media, while 27 per cent said clients view social media activity as part of PR.
Almost one quarter of consultancy heads have yet to tweet, although 42 per cent regularly send out their views in 140 characters or less.
