OMG - the OED's got hip

I was cream crackered when I arrived at work despite the flat white I enjoyed en route, but as soon as I switched my computer on and surfed the net I started to LOL.

Of the 45,437 new words added in the latest revision of the Oxford English Dictionary, many will make you ROFL (that's 'roll on the floor laughing' for all you lame people out there, and I had already 'laughed out loud').

The Oxford English Dictionary has included all sorts of storming words. There are some that might say that those responsible for the latest revision of the dictionary are mad hatters, but I heart the idea.

Yes, that's right. It may have started life as a heart shaped symbol on those souvenir tee-shirts from New York, but now the logo is so well known that it has gone onto live an existence as a colloquial synonym for 'to love'.

Some of these phrases and words made their way into everyday usage through the pages of celebrity magazines. It is hard to believe the stick that WAGS get for having muffin-tops when they're papped. But OMG!!! At least they are not all from la-la land which can either refer to Los Angeles or to a state of being out of touch with reality. Or even both simultaneously. Double whammy or what!!!!

Perhaps, these celebrities had regularly been on the lash or even adhered to the five second rule just once too often. Yes, the highly respected Oxford English Dictionary has included that school boy phrase, which permits the retrieval and consumption of dropped food within a specified period of time. It can be five seconds, or even three.

This addition of these phrases reflects the worldwide spread of technology, and the so called text language so often used. Hopefully, these latest additions will also help the older generation understand what the younger generation are talking about. They're so tragic! My mum still does not even understand what LOL means. LOL!!!
