The ultimate accessory for window shoppers has been unveiled with the launch of an interactive window that allows passers by to point and buy products without even entering the store.
The gadget, which was launched at the CeBIT fair in Hanover, Germany, uses infrared cameras to register the movements of a person's hand and transmit these to a screen in the interactive window.
All the customer has to do is stand three feet from the window and point at their desired item, which calls up a menu on a television screen with a 3D image of the product along with information on prices, colours and availability.
The system does not store any personal information but will collect data on how many customers stopped in front of the window and which items proved particularly popular.
It is believed that the device, which are expected to cost less than £100, will be available for retailers within two years.
