NHS Lothian has become the first health board in Scotland to create an iPhone application with the launch of 'Sign up to save a life' as part of its organ donation campaign.
The application, which is available free of charge, makes it easier for potential donors to join the national register and find out more about organ donation and transplantation in Lothian.
It also includes general information, quick facts and a direct link to the national organ and tissue donors' registers wither via web browser or text.
Lothian wants to increase the number of people on the register from 42 per cent of the local population to at least 50 per cent.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the UK's first live donor kidney transplant, NHS Lothian has also created a dedicated website with information pack and real life short films.
