Almost half of Britain's senior communications professionals see no value in maintaining a close relationship with the Labour Party during 2011, according to new research.
Just three in ten believe maintaining a close relationship with the Labour Party should be a priority for business this year, while 45 per cent disagree.
However, 66 per cent of respondents believe a 'new approach to public affairs' is required following the creation of the coalition government.
The research, conducted by Britain Thinks and new public affairs consultancy Pagefield, found that 85 per cent of communications professionals believe communications will become even more important this year as a result of increased scrutiny and the need for improved transparency.
Engaging with the regulators will also become more important, according to 75 per cent of those polled, while 71 per cent perceive stakeholder relationships as the most important element of building reputation.
