Steve Baker, Conservative MP for Wycombe, is the most authoritative Member of Parliament on Twitter, according to a new survey by PeerIndex Research.
The 39 year old, who was also rated one of the top ten most rebellious Conservatives from the 2010 intake, has just over 1,500 followers, but is ranked higher than Ed Miliband, leader of the Labour Party, who has more than 49,000 followers.
The research considers three criteria in all analyses, including an MP's authority on Twitter and how well they resonate with their audience, the size of their audience and how active they are.
Out of a possible score of 100 where, according to PeerIndex chief executive Azeem Azhar, '100 is God-like and one is more normal', Baker scored 63. 'A score of 40 or more puts you in the top ten per cent of people we evaluate,' he added. The median score is 19.
Ed Miliband received a score of 60, while deputy prime minister Nick Clegg achieved a score of 55, ranking him eighth in the index - exactly the same score and position as Diane Abbott.
Foreign secretary William Hague is the highest ranked Conservative cabinet minister, at 12th position with a score of 54.
More than 230 British MPs now tweet.
