Nestlé launches corporate app

Swiss food manufacturer Nestlé has launched an application for the iPhone and iPad to keep investors and media up to date with the latest news, press releases, PDF presentations and weekly share buy-back updates.
The tool automatically loads the latest updates when connected to WiFi and stows them for accessing offline.
Roddy Child-Villiers, head of investor relations at Nestlé, said of the application: 'It was not created in response to an identified demand. Rather the app anticipated a need amongst the Nestlé community in the financial markets. Our feedback suggests that it is proving to be a hit as an efficient tool for our target audience.'
Since the official launch on October 22nd roughly 1,000 users have downloaded the app worldwide. Nestlé is currently exploring the development of Android and Blackberry compatible versions.
Peter Warne, head of e-communications at Nestlé, said: 'We've had a mobile website for more than a year and now the app for iPhones and iPads complements this.
'Technology is the great enabler, and we can better understand the individual platforms and what their strengths and weaknesses are, both through engaging consultants with their expertise and the old-fashioned way of developing it and measuring the results.'
