Brit Awards get Oscars-style image shakeup for 2011

Iconic British fashion designer Dame Vivienne Westwood is to redesign the bronze Britannia trophy as part of a host of changes for the 2011 incarnation of UK music industry event the Brit Awards.
If preliminary sketches are anything to go by, the stylised helmeted Briton will be a rather more colourful affair possibly sporting a red dress. In future years, other British designers will be given the honour of restyling the prize.
The ceremony itself is also getting a change of outfit, with the venue making its way east from Earls Court to the O2 Arena.
Artists will have a greater say in the judging, in a bid to give what has long been considered a celebration of commercial success in the music industry a little more credibility. The voting academy, which comprises 1,000 industry experts, is to admit artists for the first time, inviting last year's winners and nominees to voice their preferences.
The album of the year award will take centre stage as the most prestigious gong, with the award for outstanding contribution to music getting dropped from the billing.
